Hey folks,

I've got an older system that I'm converting into an MP3 Station. I won't be gaming or doing anything graphic intensive. I've got an older 64 MB card that's just plain terrible on my 21" Gateway monitor & it's time to upgrade.

I've been out of the AGP market for a while now, so I'd like a few suggestions.

I'm looking for a card under $60. NewEgg has 2 cards that caught my attention, but I don't know much about either card. The reviews I've read on both seem fine, so I'll start there. Both of these cards seem to run pretty hot. What do you guys think?

Yea, I'm very close to a Fry's. I'll check to see what they have. I normally would have done that anyway, but like I said, I wanted some feedback on these cards before I made my decision.

The 256MB of memory won't do any good on cards this slow - you'll get the same performance with 128 MB. However if it doesn't come at any additional cost, then it doesn't hurt.

The 6200 has a 64-bit memory interface, while the 5500 has a 128-bit interface. The only problem is that it's based on the older FX technology. From what I see, it looks like the 6200 is faster, and should be the one to get.

The ATI 9550 (128-bit version) is also very good for the money.

The fastest card for under $60 that I can find is this one:

If you don't mind open box, you can get better cards:

It doesnt matter how fast the cards are.. he needs the best picture quality at a high resolution.
64 megs should be fine but im guessin its an old geforce 2 or somethin so that wouldnt look so
great at 2048x... a 6200 or 5500 would be fine probably. Although i read an article discussing this
and if you are using DVI i dont think they even could support that high of a res very well. I'll
try to find it...
