I have a BE6 with a katmai pIII cooled by a gorb. 2 case fans with the front one sucking in and the rear one blowing out. An 2.1 ATX PSU blowing out and a driuve cooler for my GXP75 HDD.

I have also fitted a fan to my 3d proophet II mx graphics card and I have 3 PCI cards, a live value, a ISDN card and a Hollywood Plus.

My question is why does the system temp appear so high, approx 30 degrees C when my CPU only gets about 10 degrees higher. I am certain the room temp is not that hot!

Is this abnormal???????

PS Forgot to mention that when I run Rain 2 the difference is only 2 degrees! Sometimes less.

30 deg.C (86 deg.F) is not really that hot for a case temp. Some stronger case fans might get it closer to room ambient. If your cpu temp is running about 40 deg.C, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Edited because my fingers are not working this morning.

Thanks for the swift reply.

At this moment I am getting 28.5 case and 32 CPU with rain running.

Does anybody know a good test to stress the CPU & graphics card to see what the maximum is. I have Quake 2 and Halflife installed atb the moment and I want to see the maximum I get is.

either you have a high room temperature or something is impeding your airflow. I used to have a fan setup like yours, but i pulled the plug on the intake fan and just left the exhaust going and my temps were the same. Room temp of 24C currently and when the CPU is idle case temp is 25-26C, under full load 27C. This is just with a Gorb and one exhaust fan (well, two if you count the PS...and it's an Enlight PS with vents right above the CPU so any heat generated by the CPU is immediately drawn out of the case).
