System start-up problem

And yet I know the programs (which are loaded via the usual shortcuts in the startup folder) are loaded and working, by looking at the task monitor. I have to end the programs in the task monitor, and re-launch the programs to have their icon visible in the system tray.

(And I'm not talking about the "hide when inactive" functionality)


Edit: OK, this web site offers a solution that worked for me, which was to disable upnp icons in the networks folder. god knows why that works, but it does

Did you try running msconfig? A lot of startup items can be enabled/disabled there.
