well, i can run it 2.5 hours before getting an error, memtest runs overnight with no errors, and my temps are real good, but it still bugs me that i get a prime error

You should try bumping up the memory voltage to 2.7 or 2.8. (Corsair tech support usually gives this advice first)
This week I was having the same problems with memtest86 and prime95.
Actually I finally got prime95 to run without error by lowering my bus speed :( . as soon as I get the memory that I ordered today I am going to RMA the ones I have now to Corsair since they won't meet their design speed.

Don't think that your RAM isn't the problem just because memtest86 says it is ok! Prime95 torture test gives it a more extreme workout.

no it isn't dangerous

just don't go more than .3 volts higher than yur mem rating as a general rule
