system specs?

yeah, frmaes per second and other general performance measurements. i always read about something in a magazine about benchmarking but im not exactly sure what that entails and i dont want to overstress my components too musch but i would still like a general idea how it stacks up against the rest of the known world. Thanks for the replies.

fastest mobo, processor (for games skt939 athlon64's), memory (1GB or more), and video card. you need a stout psu to keep up with it, esp. if you plan on OC'ing. strangely those items bode well in helping the F@H team.

well you can use a program like 3dmark or SiSoft Sandra to benchmark your pc. 3dmark will compare your results against others if thats what you are looking for the most.

good luck

here is my current configs
Intel P4 3.0
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
BFG Tech Nvidia 6800 GT OC

A huge thanks to the guys who responded

I'm most familar with SETI@home & there are ways of comparing your PC with others. Ars Technica has a benchmark work unit you can use to compare with others, as not all work units are the same, even if the angle ranges are similar. Different angle range work units process at different speeds.
You can download the benchmark work unit here & see some outdated times of various PC's.
Here is a slightly more updated benchmark page.

You can download the S@H client for Windows here:
ftp://alien.ssl.berkeley.edu/p...i386-winnt-cmdline.exe

If you decide to try this & need any help getting things up & running i'm sure the S@H crunchers will fall over themselves trying to help you out.
