"System" running in task manager

In the processes tab of my task manager, there is a process called "System". It's using 62mb of memory and virtually no CPU.

I usually know what all of my processes are doing, and seeing one named "System" that I've never seen before really worries me. It seems like a BS name that a virus would disguise itself as so a normal user wouldn't think to close it. I ran AVG and it found nothing. I can't kill the processes; there's not an "Access denied" message. It just doesn't end when I click on End Process.

It's very hard to google this because it's named something so generic. Whenever I google "System, task manager" I obviously get a million unrelated results.

Anyone seen this before? Is this somehow normal and I've never noticed?
