System Rigs Updates

I'm going to update the form for adding system rigs this week, can you guys post any wants here in terms of manufacturers etc.

Cheers.

I like that option too... Maybe something in ther realm of overall FSB speed and what not... ( might be too bulky though )

Would look good for those with a 1200QDR FSB...

😀

I think it's alright as it stands...

A few ideas, in no particular order:
  • Perhaps an IBM option for the CPUs, since Apple's new stuff uses their CPUs, but that would be one that might not be in much demand, so if nobody else sees a need, then forget it.
  • Either a new field, or an updated current one, to account for DVD+/-RW drives.
  • We need SATA (and possibly SATA-RAID).
  • Fibre channel would be cool, too, but again this is one that I doubt many people would need to use.
  • Other very-non-critical potential ideas: Additional Monitors (similar in function to the Additional Hard drives - for those with more than one), Printers, and Scanners.
Thanks for taking the time to update the system rigs. This is something that (IMHO) needed to be done, and I'm glad to see that you're going to do it. 😎

Be sure to have a , but please save it for afterward, so you don't screw the database up. 😉

I've got a few suggestions for some additional sections
1) Keyboard / Mouse
2) speakers / sound system
3) Case / mods?
4) also the stuff that's been suggested so far sounds good too 🙂

Case mods sounds good...

Oh, one other little thing I just thought of: a "cleaner" way to specify a multi-processor system (have a number of CPUs box, perhaps?).

I would definately agree with that 🙂

DVD +/- RW field
SATA/SATA-RAID checkbox
Dual Channel checkbox (so when it's clicked in will put "in Dual Channel" next to your memory type)
Speaker field
Heatsink field
Case field

🙂

1) Maybe Dual/Quad(oh yeah!)/Octoid(I dunno, I made it up) CPU selection?
2) CPU Socket type. ie: Slot 1/A, Socket 462/467/754/939/940 etc...

A "Dual" option.

What about a "quad" option!!! I just dragged home an old IBM Netfinity w. 4x Xeon @ 450Mhz... 😀

SWEET!!! I've seen some quad Pentium Pros out there for dirt cheap, and a few quad DEC Alphas too. I'd like to get my hands on one some day and fire up Linux on it, just for kicks... ;-)

As for rig suggestions, more storage options, such as RAID: how many drives, what level, etc., also CD-RW, DVD±RW, etc. How about some peripherals? Like printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, joysticks, PDAs, etc.? Also, networking, such as wireless, gigabit, bluetooth, etc. I'm more into servers and networking here than overclocking or gaming. ;-)

Front side bus and multiplier inputs.

And I agree, the form needs to add Serial ATA as a interface.

how about a place for
-Timings
-Bios Version/board revision
-VDimm voltage
-Vcore Voltage
-Idle and Load temps
-HSF Combo
