Is anyone else having trouble loosing resourses running Win ME
I have approx 85% free when I boot up and after 5 minutes it is down to 71% Driving me crazy

In general WinME is a resource hog. Disabling the System Restore feature helps a bit but after 6 weeks I got fed up with WinME and replaced it with Win2K.

Awww man, Windows ME was such a pain in the butt. Here's my horror story!

On several systems, I've had nothing but trouble. Protection errors galore and microsoft's support's best solution was to reinstall it because 'I'm getting paid a ton of money to support this, but don't know what that error is'. Thank god their support was free!

A work machine we set it up on, pretty standard workstation Pentium II 400, 128 meg of ram, Viper 330 vid card, SB16. Everytime we opened explorer, it would throw up a Illegal operation error. We reinstalled 4 times... On the 4th time - it stuck! We hadn't done anything different. Blech.

On my home system, I would see a loss of memory resources until I was running on 700k of free physical memory and my computer then would hang. Lovely that. Tried every driver I could find, reinstalled ME, was still happening. It's very annoying, because it was rock stable until it run out of memory (I've got 128 meg - I would hope that's enough).

In the end, I formatted and went back to win 98 SE - at least I could play games without fear of a crash...
