I recently upgrade from a pata hard drive to a sata hard drive. Ever since then my system will randomly lag/hang/stall for several seconds. When it does hang I first hear the disconnect sound like your removing a portable storage device and then the connect sound like when a storage device is connected and everything resumes like normal. Sometimes it will do this every few hours, other times it will do this 4 or 5 times in a row. I disconnected the sata drive and went back to my old pata hard drive for a bit and that solved the problem. Seagate swears it has nothing to do with their hard drive since it passes all their tests and it is the primary and only hard drive currently connected when its running. As of now I only have my USB mouse connected to the computer and all non-essential hardware has been removed. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to fix this before I go crazy?

I am currently running version 6.86 nforce4/500 series driver for windows xp and I have a Chaintech VNF4-Ultra motherboard.
