System problems after installing Quicken H & B 2015

I buy the new version of Quicken every year. I bought the 2015 DVD version of Quicken Home and Business and installed it on Saturday 15 NOV. I don't remember being asked any questions during the installation about changing any files or adding unwanted programs. The Quicken runs fine but I did find a program called Rapport on my computer (supposedly an IBM corp. security software) that I did not knowingly install but I did remove it using Revo uninstaller.

Here are some of the probs

1. PDF files have been changed to ZIP files

2. Some Quicken data files .DAT have been changed to WordPerfectx6 Merge Data files.

3. I ran Norton and no viruses found.

4. My paid copy of Malwarebytes was also somehow removed and now I cannot re-install Malwarebytes as the DVD seems to cause the screen to go on and off during attempt to run it in the DVD drive.

5. I even tried System Restore going back to 1 NOV, before I installed Quicken 2015, but files have not reverted to their original extensions.

6. Windows update for 8.1 shows I only have 30 updates in history when I should have like a 100+ since I have had 8.1

7. Norton anti-virus thorough eval reveals nothing.

Why would Malwarebytes disappear and now be unable to re-install? What about the file extension changes? Any answers would be appreciated

IBM Security Trusteer Rapport is a security program that comes with Quicken. Some people are reporting huge slowdowns with the program installed, so removing it was not a bad idea.

As for your other issues, is the file extension changed, or just the image/program it is set to open with?

You may want to go to Default Programs and reset some defaults.

Also, have you recently removed any malware/viruses from your computer?

I didn't remove a virus or malware. Thanks for the info about Quicken 2015 and Rapport. Since I have a back-up file of Quicken 2014 that was not converted to the 2015 system, I will Revo uninstall the new Quicken and reinstall the old version. Then I'll go to the forums and post a question about the hidden programs and see what gives.

Thanks again for the info.

That doesn't surprise me...

My wife and I give up on Quicken a few years ago. Instead of fixing problems with their existing software, they just come out with a new version every year that has more/different problems.
