System panel connectors

Hi.. I have cooler master CM-690 case and ASUS M2N32-SLI-DLX motherboard. I am a little confused by the System Panel Connector.

1) PWR LED - Case PWR LED cable has a 2-pin connector. Connector on mobo has 2-pins but the pins are separated by an empty pin. (Case PWR LED Cable looks like - ".." whereas mobo connector looks like ". .") How do I connect this?

2) SPEAKER - There is a 4-pin system warning speaker connector on the mobo. I dont have any speaker on the case to connect here. Do I have to buy it separately?

The way that I do the power LED connector is to use a pair of sidecutter pliers and cut the connector down the middle of the empty slot. Then they can be put individually on the correct pins on the motherboard. You can either trim the excess plastic or just turn the connectors 90 degrees.

As for the speaker connection, if you are one to diagnose your computer from the beeps, then you would want to get a speaker. If not, forget it.

Good Luck

or if you don't want to cut your connectors there are adapters for these things. this one isn't in stock though. but you get what i am talking about

I don't even connect the speaker, it's pretty much worthless until you run into a problem. However, there really should be one, but it might not be with the rest. Check around the PCI slots.

Thanks Kevin! I will have to cut the connectors because this cool adapter is not on newegg or tigerdirect as well. But thanks for letting me know such thing exists! Maybe I will search a little more elsewhere!
