I just added the 9800 pro yesterday and since then i've been having system lock ups. It was mostly happing when I was in a game but I just had it lock up while surfing the internet. Here are specs:

P4 2.53 GHz
512mb PC2700
WD 200GB, Maxtor 60GB
DVD-RW
DVD-ROM
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
9800 Pro
350 watt PSU

Any idea's for the lock up?

No-name 350W PSU or branded?

That'd be my initial guess.

yeah the PSU is pretty much a no name. Powerup is the brand. The video card drivers are the catylst 4.9 Tired the 4.10's but seemed really unstable.

What was your last video card ? was it nvidia ? did you use driver cleaner before you installed the 9800 pro drivers ?
And the noname 350 watt could aso be a problem, but until we know the answers to the questions above, I can;t say more.

my last card was a sapphire Radeon 9000 pro. I used the catylist driver remover from the ATI site. I had the 4.9 drivers installed for the 9000 too.

Nothing wrong with that TT over the antec. Also, I've ran a 9800pro on a 280w PS before. It was also a no name brand...arrow.

I don't know but I can't seem to run a game for longer than 10mins before I have a lock up. I'm going to switch the APG to 4x instead of 8x and see if that helps any. It was suggested over at 3dguru.com

Could be the PSU, but it could also be a bad card. Also a chance you could have a kooky driver setup but it sounds more hardware related.

well I just played a game for 30mins with out a lock up. The only change I made was I set the APG speed to 4x. Any ideas what could cause the problem with the 8x APG? Could it still be PSU related?

after downloading MBM5 and checking my volts here's how they read out. My average for my 3.3v is 1.03v my +5 is at 1.70, my +12 is at 4.37. And another fun thing, after I installed this program the heat sensor has gone off twice. My average case temp is 52 celcius and my average processor temp is 51 celcius. But I have the sensor set at the same place, anyone know where I could have each sensor placed? Thanks.

ENERMAX Noisetaker Series 420W Power Supply, ATX 12V V1.3 compatible: Support latest P4 and Athlon 64 platforms, Model "EG425P-VE-SFMA":

Output: +3.3V@32A; +5V@36A; +12V@15A; -12V@0.8A; +5VSB@2.5A

What's with these gimpy rails?? My Enermax 460W PSU's +12V rail is 33A. Budget cuts?
