My system locks up in what seems to be random events, i can either be reading forums, listening to music or playing a game, but everytime it locks up, the sound coming from the speakers turns to a shhhhhhhhhhhh sound with a touch of a high pitch noise to it...iv'e taken out my sound card and was using the built in audio when it did it again, so my sound card is good.... would it be possible for a video card to make this happen? iv'e replaced my video card with my real old radeon 32MB....there goes playing any games
and so far its been fine for a day, im going to leave it in for a week to see if it happends with the old card... ive reinstalled countless times because when it locks like this, it usually takes my XP profile with it or last time, it trashed my whole d drive, where my apps, and music is stored, when i clicked on it, it asked me if i wanted to format it....luckily, i found a prog to recover it all... i need to figure out whats going on before it deletes everything and im NOT able to recover it... or it could even be heat related, but the side panel of my case is off, and most of the time there is a cool draft floor level. maybe there is too much dust on my components? idk...
