System lock-ups

Just bought a Inno3D GeForce 6600 GT 128MB AGP. Not until I figured it needed extra power from the PSU (doesn't say so in the manual, only for 6800 series), I got into Windows with my new graphics card. But, after just a few minutes the system froze. It doesn't restart or anything, just freezes. I can't move the mouse, use the keyboard, or anything. OK, I figured my PSU was too small (300W), so I bought a new one - COLORSit 500W - with these outputs:
+3.3V_____28A
+5V_____35A
+12V_____25A
-5V_____0.5A
-12V_____0.8A
+5VSB_____2.5A
Should be ok?
I installed Battlefield 2 ("yay finally I can try this demo!", I had a GeForce 4600-Ti before) and played for a few hours. Then I shut my computer down. Later that evening I was going to do some other stuff on my computer, but it locked/froze, same as before. Tried everything, testing different memory-sticks, different hard-drives, unplugging hard-drives and optical drives (to lower power-usage), but it still didn't work.
What can be wrong? It even freezes at start-up sometimes (at graphics BIOS-screen, at BIOS-screen, at Windows loading-screen etc.).
I know my motherboard can't handle 8x AGP, but it can handle 4x... and I could play for a few hours so that shouldn't be the problem?
Also it can't be a cooling-problem. Even if I have my system shutdown for a few hours, it can crash like 1-2 seconds after start-up.
Please help me! ;O

This is my current setup:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4, 2533 MHz (19 x 133)
Memory: 1024 MB DDR400
Motherboard: Albatron PX845E Pro (http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/it/mb/overview.asp?pro_id=17)
Display monitor: LG Flatron 915FT Plus
Hard drive: Western Digital WD800JB-00CRA1 ATA100
Sound Card: Intel 82801DB(M) ICH4(-M) - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-1]
Other adapters:
NEC DVD-RW ND-2510A
LG DVD-ROM DRD8160B
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
System BIOS: Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00PG

PS. Everything works fine when I change back to my old graphics card so I guess it can't be anything wrong with my motherboard/memory-sticks? This is frustrating! :) DS.

Actually, I just flashed (upgraded) my BIOS (from a 2002 to a 2003 version from my motherboards homepage), and I have been using my computer for more than an hour now. Hopefully it will stick with me even longer! :)
The settings weren't much different in BIOS setup but I guess it could have changed something to the AGP Port or something (hopefully).

I will be back if it starts to lock up/freeze again.

PS. Yes I tried resetting the BIOS several times before. DS.

A lot of people report that turning off "fast writes" in the BIOS can bring stability.

I have no such setting as "fast writes", but yes, I've read about it. Could it be called something else? Or could I have missed it? Which sub-menu is it usually under?

Btw. Crashed again after about 2 hours idling/surfing in Windows and 30 minutes Battlefield 2. On the first reset-attempt it stopped in BIOS. Second, I'm here, and have time to write this message. :)

Also crashed when I changed Video Settings in World of Warcraft just before those 2,5 hours.

This is so annoying...

OK everything works fine now.

Had to change fast writes och sidebanding in Forceware-settings (Coolbits) since I didn't have them in my BIOS-setup.

Thanks for your replies!
