System jerky, what could it be?

New game, old problem...

After starting "Colim McRae 04", I noticed a lot of jerkieness as I did when I got ColinMcRae 2.
In those days, upgrading from SDR RAM to DDR RAM solved the problem. FPS ist between 60 and 70, so I suppose the Graphics card is not the problem.

My system's details:
Athlon XP (Tbred B) 2000
Asus A7S333
512 + 256 MB Infineon CL2 PC266 @ 2-2-2-6
GeForce4 4200 @ 4600
RAID 0 Promise FastTrack 100 with 2x IBM DTLA 305040
SB Audigy 2

I'd like to spend as little money as possible on changing components. What do you folks think may be at fault here?

@ HippyWarlock:
Of course it is, and there is no HD-activity going on at all (which I can hear quite nicely as the case is open and the drives are lying outside on the floor for better cooling) 🙂

Turn down the graphics settings...the texture detail in particular, and the shadows.

That game runs really well at 1280x1024 w/ 6XAA/16XAF with all the options enabled on my R9700PRO by the way, so an upgrade may improve things for you.
