Ok here is the deal:
Replaced Delta AFB0612HA 60mm fan rated at 21.2 cfm (this is the stock fan for the Taisol 760092)
Put in Panaflo FBA08A12L 80mm fan rated at 24 cfm.
I used to get CPU temps of 34 at idle and 40 at load.
Now I get CPU temps of 43 idle and untested at load.
WTF?
I didn't use an adapter for the 80mm on my Taisol... I just sort of put it on top of the heatsink with a few rubberbands.
Does anyone think that the rise in temps might be due to me dislodging the heatsink a little while I was replacing the fans? I did wiggle it a little, but seeing how it's still clamped on, I don't think it moved... is it possible for it to move even with the clamp on?
Update: I put the fan on slightly off-center so I can have more surface area of the heatsink exposed to the air flow of the fan. (when putting the fan on completely on top of the fan, a large part of the heatsink did not get airflow because the center of the fan was too big.) Now my temps are 37-38 degrees on idle, which is a hell of a lot better than 43. 🙂
