System hard locks, restart, and there are huge gaps in event viewer.

I've recently been getting these hard locks in XP that I think are video card related, but it's making event viewer act crazy.

For example:

6:00 PM - turn on computer
11:00 PM - computer hard locks
11:05 PM - boot back into XP

When I look through Event Viewer, there is NOTHING between 6PM and 11PM.... what would cause Event Viewer to just get erased like this? I've been having recent video card troubles... could this be it?

could be your box got owned, and it's someone deleting logs an doing screwy stuff...
