I'm usually pretty good at this but this time I need backup! After much research and asking arond, I turn to the top notch community of AnandTech for help. Here goes:

Running Windows 7 64bit, I've recently updated my Nvidia Drivers (GTX 550) to the latest build and I started to get this strange issue while playing FPS games (Mass Effect 3, Tribes Ascend mainly) where the screen freezes up for 1-2 seconds and then it comes back with the keyboard unresponsive for 10 seconds or so AND it'll be stuck on whichever key I was pressing at the time, it's even doing it right now as i try to type this. Keyboard drops in and out of service, somehow. I'm also getting small audio glitches through my speakers via my Native Instrument Audio 4DJ external sound card (which I unplugged to test without and nothing changed).

I seem to have fixed the audio issue by upping the buffer size on my sound card. I also tested with a second keyboard and nothing changed.

Seems like the problem is revolving around USB devices but I've reinstalled all the drivers... any ideas?

Make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers installed, and update the BIOS (preferably with MSI's Live Update). If that doesn't help, try different USB ports, and avoid the USB 3.0 ports altogether. Finally, restore the Nvidia drivers to the previous version.
