System halts when coming out of standby - CPU reset due to overclock

System will not resume operation when coming out of standby. Requires a reset-power off/on and then the system displays a
CPU reset due to system overlock message.

Even when system is running at normal clock this problem is experienced. System config has not been changed for 8+ months. Tried removing one memory SIM and same problem. If a memory SIM is placed in DD2 slot 2 it only produces a long beep (EITHER sim placed in slot 2 caused the long beep - but EITHER sim works fine if only in slot 1). Im thinking the biostar MB is toast.

"System halts when coming out of standby - CPU reset due to overclock " - overclocking is known to degrade chips, meaning you need more voltage to keep them stable at the same speed that worked before.
Also... the HSF might be clogging up, reducing the cooling capacity.
And the PSU might be aging, causing power fluctuations.
And any of the components could have degraded and broken
And ...

Basically, clean your system, then test all your components at stock, if they work, find a new OC that works.
