I have a second system (TBird 1000, MSI MB, 768 sdram, 2 Maxtor HDs, G400, PC Power Silencer 275 PS, XP Home). It has been freezing at random intervels recently, even sometimes while I am in the system BIOS before the OS comes up. I have checked all the cable connections, and tried different hard drives to no avail.

Might I need a new power supply? I recently added some components to my other box, and have alot of other stuff (lights, TV, Hifi, etc) running. Could I be asking for more power than my house wants to give? Or memory went bad, maybe?

Thanks for any tips on how to troubleshoot.

Hmmm, power supply is a possibility. What brand of ram are you running? Maybe your motherboard could use a bios flash?

RAM is Crucial, never had a prob with it before, but I guess I will start taking sticks in and out to test.

Thanks guys, I think you are right that it must be power supply. I just ordered an Antec 430W True Power, will see if this solves it. I guess even a high quality PS like the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 275 has it's limits. It's been running a TBird 1000 24/7 for years now.
