I am running windows 2k and a refurbed sapphire 9800Pro with all the newest drivers. I have tried re-installing drivers with the help o driver cleaner to no avail. I have triedn re-installing the os to no avail. I have tried using a different hdd, to no avail. I have tried using different opticals to no vail. I have tried windows xp with even worse results. the system just freezes and has to be manually turned off. There is absolutely noo pixelation like I would expect from a bad video card, or from an overheating vieo card. teh video ram is getting up to about 120F, not that bad a temp. the core roughly the same temp. The system isn't shutting down like I woudl expect with the procesor overheating. I have an Enermax 450w Psu so I don't see that being the problem. Any body have any other ideas? I have tried both teh ATI drivers and Omega drivers, I origonally had an older nforce driver installed and it was having this same malfuntion so I upgraded those to the newest available from nvidias site. This is day two of trying o igure it out.

I ran it that way for about half an hour today while I updated windows with no problem. Do you think there is a conflict between ATi's newest driver and the sapphire 9800pro built on the 9700 PCB?

this had got me thinking. I am gonna try some older drivers, probably Omega, BRB.

couldn't even finish installing the omega 3.5's before it froze on me again. I am gonna tryi installing an old 9600pro I have tos see once and for all if it is the video card that is the problem.
