Hey all,

I've been trying for ages to fix my pc and nothings worked so I thought I'd give y'all a shoutout and see if anyone knows what the problem might be...

Its a long story, so Ill keep it short. My pc is now not working. When I turn it on, the monitor goes into stand by mode, but my motherboard gets power and all. Fans work on cpu and gpu. Cpu does get hot and used to turn off the pc after about 10-30sec (it doesnt now). Normally my pc beeps (memory?) but it doesnt beep anymore. Now, I dont know if the cpu has gone, or maybe the motherboard mem slots, or maybe its the gpu or gpu slot that doesnt work anymore.

I dont have another sys to try the gpu/memory/cpu in either...

Any ideas/suggestions...?

Thanx in advance for any help.

Thats the thing though. There are no beeps. And I don't have the mobo manual either.

It all really kicked off when I was trying to upgrade my mobo to a new one. I installed the new one and got every ready turned it on, and then it would do the same thing. Run for about 10-30 sec then turn off, I checked the cpu and it was hot, hotter than it should be, so i reset the cpu, put some more artic silver on, and still same thing kept happening. I thought the new mobo was stuffed, so i tried with the old one again, and still the same thing. Monitor in powersave, and the pc keeps running without turning off. So, what I think it could be is that the mobo ram slots are gone, and maybe the gpu.gpu slot is gone, or maybe just the mobo slots are all gone.

If you aren't getting any beeps, then it's probably one of these:

1) Your speaker is disconnected or broken
2) Your motherboard has failed
3) Your power supply has failed
4) You haven't connected the 12V ATX power cable to the motherboard.

If you want a CHEAP diagnosis tool, you could buy an ultra-cheap motherboard and power supply that's compatible with your memory, CPU, and video card and try your components there. Don't bother inserting the motherboard in a case. Just put the whole thing on cardboard and turn it on and see what's broken.

Without some "known good" place to insert your components, you are going to have a very hard time figuring out what's broken.

Reseting the CMOS... That would be taking teh battery out for a while, then putting it back in.

I dont think my speaker is broken. I think its the mobo. And I've tried with 2 different PSU as well.

I might just sent everything to a repair shop where they've got the tools to check everything.
