"System failed CPU test" ?!?

I own an ASUS P4S333 and a Northwood 1.6Ghz.

I have been running my system at 1.76Ghz (my processor was a very poor overclocker) for a few days then suddenly I restart and I get nothing, even bios wont post. All I can hear is "System failed CPU test".

Does this mean I have a dead processor? Ive checked and its installed correctly.

Id try to clear the CMOS, then go into the BIOS and set the 'halt on..." to none, then double check the other settings and try restarting.
Good luck.

1.76ghz? sorry ..that is a poor OC!

I tried clearing CMOS and it didnt work.

The fact that it doesnt overclock well and has died is probably related dont you think?

try popping out the battery and then wait a few second then put battery back in , this will clear your bios back to default setting.

I am having the same troubles. I didn't overclock mine though. I have a 1.6 GHz P4/P4B i845 Northwood(478 pin)MoBo. Was working fine for a day and a half then it suddenly locked up and it has not started up since. I have tried everything from from manually setting the jumpers, to clearing the cmos, and even swapping out the memory. I emailed Asus' Tech Support on (03/23/02) and have not heard back from them yet. When I do, if ever, I will let you all know.

Get a different mobo that asus has alot of problems

could you link for us somewhere that confirms this? I have heard good things about this board myself.. I just read a P4 mobo reviewHere, and the ASUS P4S333 did pretty good..
