I play all games (this is a gaming rig) any upgrade suggestions or any general comments are all welcome 🙂 thanks

Seems decent? Really, the mark of a good build is how much you spent relative to the performance you got.

If you feel like doing some more you could improve your storage situation. Could get a ssd, raid controller card and a few more 2tb drives for the raid array.

IBM Serveraid M1015 or Dell Perc h310 would work for the raid card, you can get them for around a $100 on amazon and ebay.

You will need to have a spare pcie x8 slot, and some availabe 3.5 bays.

You could also forgo purchasing a controller card and just use your motherboards built in raid, but it isn't nearly as good.

What does he need RAID for? This is a gaming rig. Absolute waste of money 😵

An SSD is not a bad idea though, but not necessary for gaming either.

So overall, is this a good gaming rig? i want ultra 60fps + on 1080p or around there

Here's the benchmarks for the 7970. You'll get over 60 FPS in most games right now. However, PC gaming constantly advances so you'll need to upgrade eventually if you want to maintain the same level of detail and framerate.

7970 should last a decent amount of time... upgrading will become sensible from a performance/cost point of view in about a year, I'd say

At this moment in time, DayZ, Arma II, Arma III, GTA IV, And once i get all my parts mostly all my games, since my current card is holding me back. I think what may be acceptible in about a year I can maybe get a new motherboard with more room and another 7970?

No, don't go crossfire. In about 1 year we should have the next next generation. AMD releasing new cards soon, NVIDIA has already released 700 series... by this time 2014, we could be into the NVIDIA 800 series and AMD whatever-comes-after.

In any case, your resolution isn't so demanding that 7970 would make sense. Crossfire/SLI works when you have a monitor setup that can properly use it, and you do it right away instead of planning to do it later.

Out of curiosity, what motherboard did you get?

It says H67 Chipset on the Acer data sheet for my pc. Thats all I know about it right now, i have a free pci-e slot.

Oh, it's an OEM build? I think upgrading the motherboard is not a very good idea, even if it made sense to get 7970 crossfire.

I mean a brand name prebuilt PC, in this case an Acer. Based on your OP it seemed like you built it yourself.
