whenever i turn my comp on after it's been off for a long time (say 8+ hours), it doesn't boot. i push the power button but NOTHING happens. i unplug the power cord from the psu, and the atx power connector from the mobo, short the psu by using a paper clip to connect the green and black wires on it, then plug in the power cord. the psu turns on. then when i plug the atx power connector back into the mobo, the whole system boots. what's going on? is this a psu problem or a mobo problem?

how many watts is your psu?
also, how many peripherals (wow haven't used that word in AWHILE) do you have connected?

hmm... your psu wouldn't have a problem with not enough power, so i think it has a faulty wire or something of that nature. see if you can rma it or get replacement
unless someone else has a differet solution?
