system dies

I have a fic aZ11e mb and a 1gig thunderbird with a 300w supply. The system will lose power and not power back up for about 15 min. It may run fine for 5 hours or 5 min. If i use a friends 250 supply it will power up immediately. Is this a bad supply, bad mb, or possibly and incompatibility between the two. nothing is getting hot that i can tell. any ideas? This is a newly assembled system.

If your 300W PS is not on AMD's approved for Athlon list, I suggest buying one that is. As Athlons and offspring are greedy with power, a 350W ATX PS is a good idea. I will buy a Fortron Source 350 Watter, or a PC Power&Cooling 350W ATX for a future T-Bird box. Some folks recommend Enermax PS's. These are less expensive than the ones I mentioned.
