I am running a 1.2 Athlon 200fsb with XP. Whenever I play TFC, after about 10-15 min I either CTD or the system restarts itself. I heard that XP, by default, it reboots without showing you the blue screen. so it appears like its a power problem, but its just your every day blue screen, stupified. I doubt its my p/s because I just put in a new Enermax 350w. anyways, I go to system properties click startup and recover tab and uncheck 'auto restart'. this way I'll have a msg of what the problem could be. I was then planning to check my system log after it reboots to see what caused it.

I then proceeded to play TFC again, after 10-15 min I get a blue screen. It appeared for only 3 sec so I couldn't read all of it, and then it restarted my system. BUT as it restarted, after about 10 sec I lose all signal to my monitor and my screen goes blank. my system is still on, so is my monitor and I noticed that my hdd lights up and stays constantly lit

I've restarted about 10 times, still same result.......I can get into the bios, but only for the 10 sec . anyone know what would cause this?

First off, you need to know how hot the processor is running. If this is under 48C then try another PS... at least 300w.

I doubt that cpu heat is a issue, since when I boot it up after a long time and the cpu is just warming up and I go to the bios(for the 10 sec) and it says the cpu temp is 30 degrees. the system still 'dies' after 10 sec. the temp monitor might be reading it wrong, but its a brand new motherboard. btw, the ps is a brand new Enermax 350w

10 seconds. Hmm. They made a movie about that, didn't they? Oh, wait, no, that was 8 seconds. ;)

Anyways. Check your remote power switch connection. You just might have something shorting across those two pins somehow, or your RPS might be bad. Best way to test is to take it off, and short the pins (all the switch is is an open-close circuit) with a conductive screwdriver or such. (MAKE SURE YOU USE A NON-CONDUCTIVE HANDLE AND DON'T TOUCH THE CONDUCTIVE PART. Thank you.) If it still shuts off after 10sec, well, hmm.. resume banging head against wall? Perchance is it an Abit or Asus board, because I recall there being somewhere on one of their websites mention a BIOS fix for a false CPU overheat causing the mo'board to shut down/crash the system and stick it in sleep mode.

is their any other way to test the P/S without opening it up. I don't really want to take it apart and void the warranty if I don't have to. 2 yr. warranty by Enermax, so if it is faulty than I am pretty sure I could go to the shop and exchange it for a new one, don't have to wait for a RMA.

btw, the Mobo is a MSI
