System crashes

I have a new system that I put together my self, but have had a problem for several months, and I need some help from you guys. Abit KT7 VIA KT133 MoBo, AMD Athlon 1.G (both MoBo and CPU support 266 FSB), Crucial 512MB memory, Radeon DDR VIVO AGP 64MB Video Card and Santa Cruz sound card. The IBM 45GB 7200 has a cooler, and I have four case coolers. Problem: I get a lot of freezes (cursur - scroll - everything just freezes) I get a lot of blue screens. When I run train simulator I get "A fatal exception has ocured at 0028:02130251. the current application will be terminated." I get a lot of VxD stack errors, that I haven't copied the text as yet. I checked the CPU this morning. the heat sink has been lapped, and I applied new Artic Silver. The Global Win heat sink was properly installed and the fan operating O.K. When I transfer digital camer images from the Nikon File to another file using Graphics Workshop, it freezes after one image. There is something wrong here, but I don't know enough about it to troubleshoot. Can anyone help?

hmmmm... you say that your mobo supports 266 FSB but you also said that you have the Abit KT7.

prob: KT7 w/ via kt133 does not support the 266 FSB only the KT7A does...go into softmenu and change back to a 200FSB. If you simply made a typo and meant the KT7A not the KT7 then maybe check to see if you put an AMD approved PSU for the 1 ghz cpu in your case?

Good luck

Cyberdad,

Make sure you are using a high-quality AMD approved power supply.
Have you tried different RAM or just using one DIMM?
