Hi all, need some serious help here. I'm imaging some PC's for the company and need to run sysprep on them. All of the PC's are XP Pro (corp). I configure the desktops with the program icons I need for the Default user and when I sysprep (sysprep 2.0 for XP) I use the -quiet -mini -reseal switches and every dang gone time after I image and boot back up, all of my adjustments are lost!!! >:-(
Al I want to do is change the SID and be able to change the PC names when booting back up after imaging. Is that soo hard??
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Haven't had that problem. I wonder if it is creating a new profile from the Default User profile. What I usually do is copy the profile that has all the settings and tweaks to the Default Users Profile then Sysprep and image.

I use SysPrep for systems I build before I deliver them to my customers (I'm an OEM). I have seen what you're talking about. I've found it even adds icons for things like MSN and WMP.
But, if you make changes in the Administrator profile in XP Pro (which gets copied to Default User when sysprep is run), then it may work (not sure if the icons work, but I do that when I want the desktop wallpaper to be set to my company wallpaper so that when the user firsts logs in, that will appear instead of bliss. it also happens when new user accounts are mode).
Owner gets copied over in XP Home, but the settings aren't really saved.

Awesome! thanks guys! Yea, I make all of my changes/tweaks with a Test user profile (with Admin rights) and copy it to the Default users dir. but after I run sysprep it removes them just like hopejr stated.
What switches are you guys using in Sysprep 2.0 with your images?
C'os I'm about to just use Ghostwalk instead of sysprep.
Also, I have a 2.88 bootable floppy image I burn on CD that is 96% full (with ghost 8 and a bunch of Network card drivers <---from Bart's website. http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/
How can I make that floppy image into a regular (anysize) image that I can burn to CD and boot with it?
Because I want to but Ghostwalk in the bootable image. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

IIRC... and it has been a month and 1/2 or so since I did sysprep on a PC. I just use reseal the PC so the SID is regenerated and the Product Key is requested.

Did you open up rights to the directory so anyone has read and change rights?

Are there any duplicate files in the %profiledir%\default user or %profiledir%\username directories, like ntuser.dat?

I suggest following Bart's PE guide for bootable disks and CD modifications. It makes everything very, very easy.
