Some men view having AIDS as a badge of honor and take pride and delight in spreading it to others.

Not much point in handing out condoms to them.

Malawi: Aids Viewed As a Sign of Masculinity - Study

Ahh... and there's no way education could possibly help with this problem, right?

You can't choose a relatively limited group, and try to generalize to the world's population.

I'm curious where you get the idea that I think that education can't help.

I think that you'll notice that I said "some" men. I didn't generalize to the world's population.

Education has it's limits. Is there anyone in the western world who doesn't know that smoking is really bad for you? Yet, how many people smoke?

So then what was your point?

I thought that my point was clear:

SOME men view having AIDS as a badge of honor and take pride and delight in spreading it to others.

Not much point in handing out condoms to THEM.

In that case, there isn't much point in teaching them abstinence either.

Oddly enough, with that link that talks about sraight men sleeping with women, you managed to derail your own thread. Good job Rip

In other news, the number of unintended pregnancies in heterosexual couples continue to soar while homosexual couples still maintains fairly low numbers....

So why won't the left acknowldge that promicuous sex is a bad thing?

Syphilis rates rise 1,400% among U.K. gay men

Newly diagnosed cases of syphilis among gay and bisexual men in the United Kingdom rose a whopping 1,412% from 1997 through 2002, according to a study in the journal Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Most of the new cases were diagnosed in London and Manchester, researchers say. Among other groups, syphilis diagnoses rose 213% among straight men and 22% among women during the same time period. Researchers say many of the gay men diagnosed with syphilis also were coinfected with HIV. Many of the syphilis cases also were transmitted through oral sex, according to the study.

If conservatives such as yourself want gay men to give up their promiscuous sexual behaviors, why aren't you advocating for gay marriage and encouraging gay men to be in monogamous relationships? You should also be calling for more $$ to be spent on public health/ education campaigns targetting the gay community to provide information on STDs (and it wouldn't cost that much money anyway, seeing as how tiny a community it is).

See this sex poll in ATOT. My conclusion is that on average heterosexual guys would be just as promiscuous as gay men, if they could get away with it. ;) But women's unwillingness is the rate-limiting factor in the amount of heterosexual sex taking place.

Find a board where everyone agrees with you. You'll be a lot happier.
I said nothing about disagreeing, Rip. I was talking about your constant lying. You can see the difference, can't you?
Oh, he does. He just continues to play the troll card like it's some personal mission he's been sent on by his preacher or something.

Should be made "Official" and at least put Reverend under his Avatar.

Fits perfectly as he is just as hypocritical

I don't really grok this thread.

I mean, what's the point other than the obvious (that anal sex is more dangerous than vaginal intercourse)? should that be some kind of basis for discriminating against gays or something?

the left doesnt believe condoms are the cure.
the left believes education and not being scared of one sexuality or anothers sexuality (re:still f-ing education) is how to solve problems.

So true. If there were an advantage to being a gay guy, easy action would be it.

You do know that going from 1 reported case to 14 reported cases gives you that 1400%, don't you?

I'd like to see what the ACTUAL raw numbers are/were to this.

Um no. The left beleivies, monogamy is GOOD, permiscuous behavior is BAD, condoms are GOOD, abstinance to prevent STDS and unwanted pregnancy is GOOD. The only thing they think is bad that you disagree with is Abstinance only education.

It is true that 30-40 years ago there was a free love movement among the left but I think by the 80's most liberals relized the dangers of advocating permiscuous behavior.

So, 14 words now constitutes personal input enough to avoid banning? Why even bother having that rule? If Rip had to actually think he wouldn't troll so much. I'm still railing this point until he gets banned forever.

You have an unhealthy obsession with other people's sex lives.
I think he switched teams.

mmmmm.....penises.

seriously though, what are you looking for? if the "left" really did decide to say that "Ok, we were wrong, stop having indiscriminant sex like we told you to last week," what would that change? are you looking for premarital sex to be banned, or something? peoples personal lives are their PERSONAL LIVES. not my business, and certainly not my tax dollars' business.

so your grand point is that oral sex is dangerous?

Here's a few recent articles:

Syphilis is back as sex diseases rise

Syphilis cases increase in Montana
Hmm...
Five syphilis cases have been reported to the state Department of Public Health and Human Services since January, said Laurie Kops, manager of the department's sexually transmitted diseases program.

No syphilis cases were reported in Montana 1999 through 2003, and four were reported in 2004, Kops said. Cases of chlamydia and gonorrhea also have increased in the past five years, she said.

Hmm..

In 2000, there were 30 Pima County residents with Syphilis. In 2004, the number jumped to 129.

Hmm...

Woodell said syphilis is typically spread through prostitution and having unprotected sex, and that cases often cluster among people who know each other. That same behavior can spread the HIV virus, which is also passed on through the sharing of needles by people who inject drugs...

...In 2000, Robeson County, had the highest rate of syphilis in the nation. Smith said the county is now probably about the third worst in the state for syphilis cases.

Soo...syphillis is up in *Red* states (MN, AZ, NC) *since* the Propagandist became the President.

Hmm...looks like teaching people not to use condoms is backfiring.
