AVS Forum Reviews

It uses the MTK chip, not the ATI one, which is a good thing. Excellent reviews for this TV. It has built in ATSC and QAM Tuners and offers 1 year on-site warranty. I picked one up myself. Free 3 day shipping from the Egg!

Connections: Audio Output: 1 R/L RCA Audio Earphone Output: 1 Stereo Mini Jack Component Input: 3 Component + 3 R/L RCA Audio (VGA connector accepts as 3rd Component source) Composite Video Input: 2 composite + 2 R/L RCA Audio Digital Input: PC + Video, Plug & Play, CEA EDID Extensions Optical Audio, 1 HDMI

Contrast Ratio is 1600:1

Edit: Almost forgot to mention. The price says $999, but there's a $200 off coupon floating around at your favorite deals sites to bring this down to $799.

UPDATE: Olevia 237V now on Sale for $699 + shipping

It has the same specs as the 537H, but doesn't have the 1 year on site warranty (you have to ship it to them if there's problems).

Price says $799, but there's a coupon floating around which knocks an additional $100 off.

Enjoy!

SUPER HOT!!!!
Dang!
The only problem is I do not need another TV.

When dit it happen? I thought The Cowboys were America's team 😉

Wow, this might be what I need. I was looking for either a 37 or 42" since I sit about 9ft from my TV.

QAM tuner is huge plus. Confused on the whole ATSC vs NTSC tuner thing.

How would SD look on this thing? I have regular extended cable (non-digital, no set-top box).

ATSC = Advanced Television Systems Committe
NTSC = "Never The Same Color" or also officially known as National Television System Committes

ATSC is currently replacing NTSC, very slowly.

ATSC tuner = digital (DTV or HDTV) format
NTSC tuner = Analog (Standard Definition or SD) format

TV tuners that are ATSC/NTSC capable can display both formats.

I would have jump on this deal if not for Cali tax. And I just cancelled my j&r 37" Olevia order coz they don't have stock. Oh well there is always a better deal around the corner.

When I enter the code, it says "Although you've entered a valid promo code, your order does not currently meet the code's usage criteria."

🙁

I did. I even cleared cache & cookies, logged back in, added to cart, put in zip code, THEN added the program code.

No dice. I guess I just wasn't meant to buy this tv XD.

I just entered it into my cart and tried it again, and it works for me

Unfortunately I just bought that 32" Sceptre from Costco for $599, or else I'd jump on this! My order from costco just shipped so there's no turning back now, and I really don't want to return it just because a good deal popped up somewhere else.

In case there's some confusion as to what I'm talking about, this deal is hot hot hot!!!

What is the QAM tuner for?
I am very interested in the TV but I am not sure if I should get this or a 42".
What is the difference between this 37" model and the other two olevia 37" models that are on newegg. They all have built in tuners.

QAM tuner allows you to receive HD channels over cable. This depends on your local cableCo and you may get all the locals and sometimes Discovery HD, TNT HD, etc. Or if you're not lucky, none at all. But in most areas you'll at least be able to get your locals. Otherwise you'd have to get an HD cable or sat box to see HD channels, or you'd have to put up an antenna to get your HD locals over the air.

I ended up equivocating so long that by the time I actually decided to buy, the deal was over.

Thanks for the great deal though, I'm just too non-commital to take advantage of it it seems XD
