Has anyone ever used this app that can tell me how well it works? Essentially I want to add a spare PC to my main rig's setup using my monitor's secondary input. If anyone can share their experiences please chime in.

i have a kvm switch, i don't know if that's what you're looking for, but it's a box which has two monitor connections, two mouse connections and two keyboard connections and you just plug those into the two computers and your original monitor, mouse and keyboard wires are plugged into this switch. then you'll have two computers with the same monitor, mouse and keyboard, and you can switch between them with a key shortcut. it works great, no problem with it

Thanks Strjms but I know what a KVM is. :) This software, called Synergy, is an alternative to a KVM. Synergy allows you to control another PC via a LAN instead of having to use a hardware KVM. I thought it was a pretty neat concept but I was wondering if it was worth it or just a waste of time.

synergy works best when you have 2 seperate monitors, otherwise you'll have to push a button to switch over to your monitors secondary input.

I've got it up and going after about an hour and a half. I had some problems along the way but got them sorted. It works surprisingly well between my Vista and XP machines.

If anyone finds this thread in the future and needs help just PM me.
