Synching email between desktop and laptop

It's becoming increasingly important that I have full access to all of my email from both desktop and laptop, in particular, my university mail. All the servers that I use are POP3.

Presently, my mail client is Thunderbird. Any thoughts on how I can sync things up between the two systems without much effort on a day-to-day basis? I don't mind switching clients, either. I don't like Outlook Express, but I'm fine with Outlook and anything else you suggest.

Why don't you check your mail with both the desktop and laptop? There is an option of saving the email on the server and on the computer when downloading. Or are you looking for something that will transfer the emails between the desktop and laptop and keep them in sync?

Leaving messages on the server is fine for my server, but the sheer volume on my university mail (this is sad, I've only had that account for a month), combined with the low storage limit, is a pretty bad combo. So I'm definitely looking for the latter.
