Symptoms of your case shorting out the motherboard?

I just recently upgraded my case from a mid tower to a larger full size. Since then, I have had problems booting properly. About half the time, I hit the power button, everything powers up, but the display remains black. I have to shut off the PSU from the back then power back on. This only began after I bought this new generic case. Anybody know the symptoms of a case that is shorting out the mobo, or the cause of this problem?
