symantec antivirus is all screwed up

i reinstalled today so i was installing my usual software, and 99% of the time, symantec antivirus installs without a hitch, but today when i installed it, it froze my computer after it said installation was complete. so im like okay...its done so im "assuming" its safe to press ctrl+alt+del and get to task manager. nope, windows is frozen so much that i cant even do that, and only move the mouse around. so i restart the computer.

thats when all hell happens.

now symantec always gives me an error saying that something is missing. and now when i try to uninstall it, it just hangs and now the entry is gone from the add/remove programs list and even the tuneup utilities list.

any help? the norton uninstaller from symantec tells me to uninstall this before i use their program. obviously i cant cause this stupid thing wont uninstall for the life of it.

i think i will try to reinstall over it and see what happens.

I think it's the "symantec" part that's screwing up. 🙂

Seriously though, if a reinstall doesn't work then something else is obviously wrong. Check if the disc is dirty or scratched, and make sure you don't have any other apps that could conflict with it.

Somewhere on the symantec site there's a remover that removes a faulty installation. I'd find it for you but i'm at work atm, sorry.
We use it from time to time, it works fine.

it installed...but now it gives me 2 popups that say these two things are missing/damaged, but i can use symantec normally, update fine, etc.

*sigh* i really dont want to have to live with them for the rest of the time, and i dont really feel like reinstalling.
