I'm not sure if this is true but I heard Trump originally wanted to send him the check, but the guy said something to the effect of 'I want to meet him in person and tell him 'You're fired!''
 
I couldn't find in that article what Trump offered him. It only has Trump in the title...the article mentions nothing. Maybe I'm blind?

While looking around on the MTA's site yesterday, I found that they'll actually give you a note if they make you late for work.

What exactly do you mean by typical? This sort of thing doesn't happen every day. I'd be much more inclined to believe that one of my employees was late to work because of a flat tire than I would because they were busy playing meat-shield between a convulsing young man and a subway train. I wouldn't believe a word of it either.

Technically, the MTA didn't make Autry late for work...the train was running on time.
ALthough, I imagine his maneuver probably caused a slight delay....
