This board other than shaky DDR400 support seems perfect to me for those unfamiliar there is a Description.

Really though I am hurting trying to figure the downside other than my prior hatred of Via chipsets

I have one sitting in front of me but don't expect it to be alive until this weekend. I'll happily post more when I get it up and running.

The silver is nice, though.

Oh, and the shaky ddr support: they're just implying, justifiably so, that there's no official "spec" for DDR400 yet. Manufacturers may differ in the approach in making the modules so they're not guaranteeing operation @ 400 unless the memory you're using is on their list, just off of the p4x400 product page on soyo.com.

After going through three different boards for my P4 setup, I finally decided on this and I haven't been disappointed. My only knock on it at this point is that its relatively expensive compared to other P4 boards. As far as performance goes, this board is fast and stable. The DDR400 option is basically a "use at your own risk" feature, but so long as your RAM is from a reputable manufacturer; you should be fine.
Soyo recommends Mushkin RAM, but I ended up using Corsair's XMS series and have not had reason to complain.

This chipset will re-affirm your hatred of VIA. At least the CD version will, apparently there is a CE version of the chipset coming to a board near you RSN.

I think the P4X400 chipset is good if you don't overclock much.

The CE chip is going to improve the Memory performance (DDR400, now that there is some out there) and maybe put in a PCI/AGP lock(if it does not have one or even has anything to do with the northbridge)

Alos does the Soyo P4X400 have a AGP/PCI lock.

Not sure on the lock, I'll look. It uses ddr400 ram, though. I have a piece of xms 3200 in there doing just fine.
