Switching Processors

I'm going to be buying the XP3000, probably the mobile, since I've heard now of the mobile's uncanny power to be easily overclocked

my question is: after I switch the processors out, will my software still function OK? My brother changed his mobo and it screwed up his windows, so I just want to be sure changing the processor won't do anything. Any info would be appreciated.

If you change the processor only you should be fine.
When changing to a different model motherboard you will need to reinstall Windows.

Yeah, when you change the mobo, none of the drivers in windows are likely to work. You can have crashes galore due to the wrong drivers and conflicts. Unless you get lucky and the new mobo has the same or a similar chipset, you will have to reinstall windows. Sometimes, going into device manager and changing the IDE controller to the generic Windows one will let you get away with a mobo change, but it's really better to just plan on a reinstall if you change the mobo.

Just changing the CPU won't bother anything.

I'm not hearing good things about the 3000+. Doesn't appear to OC better than the 2400+, 2500+, 2600+ just costs more. SEE THIS

And like said above, no reinstall when just changing CPU's.
