Switching Hard Drives

I'm upgrading my hard drive and I was planning on using DriveImage or something like it to transfer the data from one hard drive to the other. I was wondering if I could avoid having to reinstall windows xp by just backing up the windows xp drive. (my hard drive is partitioned) However this doesn't seem like it would back up the mbr and other stuff needed to boot. How would I go about backing stuff like that up?

Last time I looked this was the hardware forum. This is a deja vu.

Partition and format the new drive, then use Xcopy* to move everything over.

* switches: /s /e /c /h /r /k /y
