I'm not trying to start a fight here, I just want to know what I need to do short of a fresh install of windows which I really don't feel like doing. I currently have a Radeon 8500 and I just bought a 6800nu which I will be picking up tomorrow.

Anyway, this is what I was going to do:

Get the nVidia drivers (Which ones are currently the best? The newest? I haven't used an nVidia card since '99 and I used the Omega drivers on the ATi side, dunno if nVidia has anything like that)
Un-install all ATi related Drivers/Programs
Run Driver cleaner
Remove 8500
Insert 6800
Install drivers
Run 3Dmark03/05 multiple times
DL and Install Rivatuner
Try Softmod
Run 3Dmark03/05 multiple times and play some games looking for artifacts
Play EQ2 beta until Guild Wars Preview is up and running :D

Did I miss anything?

Well got it installed and it's running fine. Tried the Pipeline/Vertex mod and it seemed to work well w/ no artifacts. My 3Dmark03 score jumped ~1400 points to 9836 and my 3Dmark05 jumped ~500 to 3898. :D
Haven't tried to OC yet and I don't think I will at this point in time, it seems fast enough for now.

Just unninstall those ati control pannel, drivers. Then shut down pc.Uninstall ati card>throw to garbage> open box>take new nvidia card> put in pc.

Restart pc> install drivers( i recommand 66.81 drivers.You can get em at guru3d.com )

And finally.Enjoy the totally uberness of an nvidia card compare to a ati card!

I've been switching cards back and forth quite a bit lately and that works great as long as you remove the drivers before pulling the card. However, if you do forget and boot with a different card with the old drivers all hell can break loose and Driver Cleaner can come in really handy.
