on sunday, I was switched from att@home to attbi,
but then my internet sharing stopped working.
I use my computer as a server and connect my brother's computer with a hub.
we both use win2k pro.
can anyone advice me want to do?
i already tried ipconfig /renew, ipconfig /release, still doesn't work.
In the little connection icon, it shows my brother's computer is recieving packets from mine,
but his browser and ICQ still says not able to connect.

Chances are, when you switched providers, you also switched DNS servers as well. You may want to check and see what DNS servers your brother is trying to use.

well my ATTBI automatically assigns those.
I used DHCP for my Local network too.
I really don't know what the problem is.
i followed all the instructions to set up the internet sharing, but still no go with attbi and a hub.

I'm having the same problem. I was using Sygate Home Networking, and whenever I have the sharing software turned On, the internet won't work even on the Host computer. I'm running XP Pro, what's the deal?

I am using my Linksys router on the attbi. This happen after the migration, the router is working okay but one out of 4 PC connect to it keep losing connection to the internet. Everything I have to "ipconfig /renew" to get my connection back. When I lost my connection to the internet. That PC still works okay on the LAN. Anyone have any idea.

On your server computer (the one actually connected to the cable modem) type ipconfig /all in a Command Prompt window.

Look for the section related to your cable connection, and write down the first two numbers listed under DNS servers.

Then, go to Start/Settings/Network and Dial-Up connections. Right-click on the cable connection and choose Properties.
Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click on Properties.

Select "Use the Following DNS Server Addresses:" and enter in the two DNS addresses you wrote down earlier.

Click OK twice, and the client computers should now be able to work.

The reason this works is because the third address listed under DNS servers is AT&T's DHCP server if you have the system set up to get addresses automatically, and your 'client' computers are being redirected to AT&T to get an IP address and DNS information, instead of getting that info from your local server/router. Manually removing AT&T's DHCP server from the DNS lookup list allows most ICS to work properly again.
