Switch Win2KPro<->Win2KServer for free!

from atdw, who is currently hosting ntswitch:

"You can use this to turn any NT Server OS into it's Workstation counterpart. 2K Pro to 2K Server, 2K Server to 2K Pro, and if you convert an OS from server to workstation, you can undo the changes by simply running the executable again and choosing to go back to whichever type of OS you were on before and simply rebooting. hmm. fun.
dew.

Technicly, this is illegal. You bought a XP/2k Pro license, and in turn, you were granted specific rights when it comes to using the software. By raising limits that are hard coded into the EULA, you're basicly violating the EULA. There was a thread closed down in the OS form that was talking about the same program.

The only problem with such backdoor hacks is that you basically lock your MS OS version in time becase you can never apply any of the MS OS bug fixes and updates to the hacked OS. MS now checks for these hacks and others in their service packs and Internet Windows Update releases. If you check the fine print for either of these MS OS update methods, you will see that they have slipped this provision into their EULA.
