I'm using an old Belkin router as a gigabit switch:

Is it going to make any difference (mainly in speed) if I get a newer, dedicated 5 port gigabit switch? I only have 1 PC and 1 iMac hooked up to it - typical usage: BT, BF3, web surfing.
 
You might notice a difference in internal transfer speeds between the Mac and the Windows machine (they're both PCs, BTW) but the things you listed as typical usage are all dependent on your Internet connection's speed and latency.
