switch from I7 3770 to I7 3930k ?

i have a I7 3770 now and there is a good deal with I7 3930k .... i can buy it for
450$ and it's even unopened .. brand new .... so does it worth to sell my cpu and get I7 3930k ? note that i can sell my cpu for like 300$ ... that is the rates in my country ....


in the shop I7 3930K costs like 750$ or if i order it form amazon it will cost me like 620$ with tax shipping cost and ect ....


so does it worth 150$ over my I 3770 for I7 3960k ? or it's useless ?


i use cpu for gaming and for GN3 or Cisco packet tracer for Virtual networking ....

Don't forget to add the price of the new motherboard you'll also need. Unless money is not a not an issue it isn't worth it IMO

well .. yes .. X79 MB's cots to high ... i can grab it for minimum 180$ .. MB costs is another problem .... and is there any big benefits from 6 cores ? or 4 cores with 8 logical cores will to fine for years ?

If you are only going to game with it then it's not worth it. If you are going to do video encoding or other multi-threaded work then it will definitely be worth it.

Say No to Any Evga Board past X58.

Still this is not worth it...

It is a downgrade in many Aspects and only an upgrade in heavy multi threaded tasks and running many instances of tasks that needs lots of cores / threads to all run at once.

Which it useless for 99% of the PC Market

Those who Encode 3 =4 Videos at a time will benefit from 3930k those who encode 1-2 at a time with barely notice anything.

It's about a 50 minute drive to the nearest Microcenter from where I reside. I noticed that the i7-3930k is on sale for 399.99 at Microcenter for local pickup only. I used to own an i7-3930k CPU and about 8 months ago I downgraded to an i7-3820 and sold my i7-3930k because I found a good deal on the i7-3820, ended up with quite a bit of money left over after selling my 3930k, slightly better quad core performance than the 3930k, and I really couldn't make use of 6 cores, except for 1 game I have but those extra cores were not used for frame rate increases but for only loading stuff in that game and 4 fast cores already was adequate for that game in every respect. In some parts of benchmarking also the 3820 beat the 3930k, not by much though. I also don't keep my system overclocked, so I don't miss the unlocked turbo multiplier of the 3930k. However, I'm tempted to rebuy the 3930k, and sell my 3820, and be out around an estimated $40 at the end of it all. Things that are holding me back from doing it are, I don't want to risk damaging my motherboard's CPU socket for an upgrade that won't really benefit me as I already swapped CPU's on my motherboard a few times and these socket pins are very delicate. I also would feel silly buying the 3930k again if IB-E is going to be released next year, that would also mean as I stated before, risking damage to my CPU socket from too many CPU swaps.

If I went through with it, I would be at a loss of around $40 if I would pretend that I never had a 3930k and never downgraded to an 3820, compared to if I would have just kept my 3930k that I got rid of. I hope I'm not confusing anyone. That's how I got an estimated loss of $40, if you look at the bigger picture.
