switch between DVI/VGA?

I have a BFG geforce 6800 OC and I was wondering if there was a way I could use both DVI and VGA with it. It has both ports but I want to be able to use DVI when on the desktop and doing general computing, but then switch to VGA when gaming so I can run 100hz. Is there any way this is possible or do I just have to plug the one I want during bootup?
 
I have the adater, but I don't see how that would work. I was under the impression DVI only worked at 60hz so using the adpater wouldn't really help me at all. Because it would adapt the dvi on the back of the card to VGA which means it will still only work at 60hz. I need a way of switching between VGA/DVI on the back of the video card, and it not just picking one to use, I want to be able to pick it in realtime in windows. (DVI for desktop, VGA for games)
