This is Swiftkey X, not the regular Swiftkey. It's brand new. And really good.

I've been using it for a while since it's been on beta and I like it. I bought the original version a long time ago and have been using it ever since. I never "got" swype and swiftkey is much much better than the stock keyboard.

The original was great, X is by far the best keyboard replacement, I'm puzzled at people who've tried it and still think Swype's better.

Swype is totally different from SwiftKey X, so obviously there will be some people who prefer how Swype works. Don't see what's so puzzling about it.

However, the latest beta for Swype pretty much ruined it. They changed a lot of the core behavior. The cursor now jumps to the end of any word you tap in, and double-tapping a word no longer selects it. It's also made browsers with autocomplete completely unusable - the cursor jumps to the end of the autocomplete suggestion instantly.

There's been an outcry at the forums and the devs have promised to fix things up, but who knows how well they'll do it and how long it'll take? I'm lucky to have a pre-loaded version of Swype on my phone - I had removed it to try out the latest beta, but I quickly reverted to my old version when I saw all the changes.

Also, I do have a lot of respect for the SwiftKey developers for actually selling their software instead of having a perpetual beta.

Not terribly impressed so far. I've been generally happy with swype but I'm going to give it a few days and see if swiftkeys grows on me.

No, when the beta ended Swiftkey said everyone who bought the Swiftkey App would get X for free.

They have been working out things with amazon and this is the solution.

I bought swiftkey a long time ago and X shows up as paid for for me in the regular market.

I got the original swiftkey for free a while back and hated it. Swiftkey X however is really good and i'm likely to stick with it over the standard gingerbread keyboard.

i think the old swype beta was better than the current one, but there no way in hell im going to touch type on my phone.

id try this if it was the tablet version. honestly, id just like a swype keyboard the size of what is on my phone (more or less) on my nook color. id be able to one-finger type pretty quick on the tablet that way, and the keyboard wouldnt take up much space

My standard keyboard on my X started flaking so I been using the go keyboard lol I'm switching to this and see how it goes. Don't know what's up with the standard one though.

I like both swiftkey X and swype 3 and have no problem using either one.

Lol I wanted to throw my phone away after teh autocomplete episode with Swype.

Swiftkey is AMAZING. Forget the prediction, I just use it as a tapping keyboard. MUCH better. I have no problem swyping, but I'm a good tapper. I type fast on my iPod, and my friends expect to tap away on a keyboard too, so its much easier when I hand my phone to others. I'll stick with Swiftkey X for a bit and play more. I hated the original though.

Prediction is overrated. By the time I read and digest the prediction, I could've typed two more words. There's more thinking and half typing in using this than anything else. almost like google instant. If you type fast enough, you'll type your whole query before instant even kicks in. And even if it does, you'd have to stop halfway and read it to see if the results are decent. By the time your fingers stop, you've typed another word on top of what google instant searched for initially. Lol.

So I say fast typers should just stick to using the autocorrection mode on Swiftkey X

OK, it's kinda growing on me. I definitely liked the swiping feel of swype vs hunting and pecking that I do with a single touch type keyboard, but the word prediction is great. Swype had some awful correction, sometimes it's suggestions would be so far off what I wanted it would slow me way down to re-swype whole words.

Ok, I don't like how adding a period does auto-space. Very annoying. I was trying to edit my build.prop file today and swiftkey made it near impossible. I don't mind autospace after suggestion, but this is annoying.

I bought the app when it was 1.99 off beta. A little peeved it was free so soon aftwards. But I like it a lot better than swype.. just couldn't get the hang of it (yes, used it for a couple of days).

And I have to agree with DLeRium on the prediction thing. After a while, I got to speed typing and it's just faster to keep tying for me. With that said, early on, it helped a lot since I came from a Pre.

I want to try swype 3 because I heard it was better... but this thread seems to totally go against that. I'm also too lazy too root my phone right now (EVO3D, have to uninstall built in swype)

Don't like it. I prefer WP7 or Gingerbread keyboard. I also don't like Swype.

The prediction is awesome but it sucks when your not looking at the keyboard. The newest swyoe beta sucks and I'm. Using the old version. Swype imo is pretty good when you are multitasking.
