For those who have used both extensively recently, which do you prefer? I am not interested in the swipe functionality, just as a normal keyboard.

I own Swift, but I don't use it anymore. I prefer the simple Google keyboard. I don't think I have any issue with the Swift keyboard, just don't need it. Google's keyboard works just fine.

I also bought Swiftkey when it first became available. The Google (stock) keyboard has come a long way, introducing great features like swipe, and improving autocorrect/suggestions. However, Swiftkey's suggestions are out of this world, once it learns your typing habits, it can autocomplete commonly your commonly used phrases.

Having said all that, I use the Google keyboard because it is just a lot faster. Swiftkey has become a hog and slow over time.

i used swype and swiftkey for awhile and switched to the google keyboard a few months back and used it exclusively.

i just switched back to swiftkey because while the google keyboard was nice, there were certain common words i used often it wouldnt get right a lot. also, even though i turned safe language off and taught it the three swears i use the most, and very often, it rarely got them right while swiping so i said F it and went back to swift key.

it let's me swear :)

I like the Samsung Keyboard best because it has the number row on top of the letters, rather than forcing you to go to the symbols page.

Between Google and Swiftkey, I prefer Google's keyboard.

Are there any 3rd party keyboards that have the number row above the alphabet like Samsung's keyboard?

I have used SwiftKey for about 2 years and haven't found any reason to go elsewhere. I have been tempted to stick /w the google keyboard sometimes but I don't find the swipe functionally works as well.

Swiftkey all the way, I like the ability to hold down a key to get a special character then going to another keyboard screeen. Plus, the word suggestion is great.

Neither. I prefer Kii to both of them. Its similar to the Google keyboard but has a lot of customization and you can add a top number row.

I used to use better keyboard. Even paid for it, but Google pulled it a couple of years ago. I think amazon still has it. Used to be great.

If I'm understanding you correctly, Google's keyboard already has that. Many punctuation/special characters by holding down the period, numbers by holding down the top row of letters, or the third option of going to another keyboard screen.

No its not the same, look at the screen shot, many different options are there without needing to go to any other screens. Also are the gestures, swipe right to left to delete a word, also swipe down to hide keyboard, and other gestures to make typing faster. It's my favorite keyboard.

I think people may be getting confused with the AOSP keyboard which has those. I'm not sure if it's a CM mod, or if its just part of AOSP, but with the Google Keyboard, there are things changed now.

Kii keyboard also has this.

Kii keyboard also has this. Oh and it also has a normal symbols page layout that's standard with most keyboard.
