Swiftech Radiator Help

Hey everyone. I'm in need of great help here. I'm getting a huge headache from trying to figure this out. I recently bought Swiftech's H20-220 APEX water cooling kit. But the radiator was damaged, so I just bought a new radiator, which is the MCR-220. Are these two radiators, one included in the kit and the one bought separately, different? I don't understand why they would be different considering that they have the same model number. My problem is that my barbs don't fit on the new radiator; the barbs are too small. I'm not even where to go from here. I've looked at these...

But I'm not ever sure if these are the right ones to get. Even if they fit my radiator, will my tubing fit? Anyway, I don't see why my current barbs won't fit in the first place. If anyone can help me or has actually encountered a problem like this, please help me out. Thanks.

What was the nature of the damage to the rad? Why not send it back if it arrived damaged?

The new rad most likely has 3/8" barbs and you need 1/2" barbs to go with the 7/16" tubing the kit came with. 7/16" tubing is nice for its high flow vs. bend radius, but it can be a bear to get on a 1/2 barb. Try softsoap on the barb while you're trying to get it on or, better yet, dip the end of the hose in very hot water and then it will slide right on that barb.

Thanks for the response. Actually, I broke the radiator when installing the screws. A pipe or something was punctured, so it leaked while testing. I guess the screws I used were too long. I think there were a bunch of people that did the same thing because I found a forum where they were discussing that specifically.

So if I get 1/2" barbs, I'll be able to get the tubing on it with some effort right? Is the link I provided at the top what I need?

Any barb that is threaded for 1/4" NPSM should work, however I would strongly encourage you to check with the people at Swiftech first. The last time I had a question about a Swiftech product, I got an email back from the owner.

Oooh, this is special! I just found the brand spanking new Swiftech Forums! I'll bet they'll have at least one techie prowling the site on a regular basis. Double check there.

That can easily be fixed with a soldering iron. Or take it to an automotive radiator shop.

LOL... i knew i should of posted somethign about this.

Anyhow, i will tell you guys right now:

Swiftech APEX series a while back ago, used the MCR220. However this MCR220 used 3/8, and not 1/4.

Gabe told people on XS that he changed the MCR220 radiator to G1/4 to make it more friendly. I have both versions, and they both perform about the same.

So order some EK Hi-Flo G 1/4 barbs. Those should fit perfectly fine on it, and also look good.
