Hi Guys,

(And special salutations to WoodButcher and Aigomore :) )

I have finally ordered the Swiftech H20-220 Compact Water Cooling Kit. It comes with a green Green UV Reactive HydrX Coolant. Before actually before installing it, I want to know if this fluid is any good. Does it leave behind any waxing or residue on the tubes or layers of the pump? If so, is there any alternative?

I want to really make sure that I use the best coolant and hence this query.

Cheers

I use straight distilled water. I believe the warranty papers for the swiftech kit may require the use of their coolant though.

The main purposes of an additive to act as:

1. an anti-corrosive agent.
2. a biocide.
3. bling.

Hydrx serves all of those functions. Given the kit you are using, the only one of those functions you might need is the biocide. It will help keep things from growing in the water loop. Since it comes with the kit, there's no real reason not to use it, but using it or not using it will have no discernible effect on how well the system cools.

Thanks guys :)

I would be using this cooling system with my Maximus x38 SE mobo which had a copper fusion block system. I hope this swiftech green coolant won't harm it in any way. Also it came with Swiftech 3/8" ID Norprene tubing. But these tubes are opaque. Can I use transperant tubes on this system? if yes then what would by the best model/make/ specification?

Cheers

Feser makes a good tubing, best I've used yet. Get the colored tube if you want bling, use distilled water and a biocide for algae, you don't need the Hydrx. It turns your tubes cloudy as most colorants do. As long as I have been here at Anand Aigo has been reaming me for using dyes and UV. I've tried them all, they invariably fade, or thicken, the Hydrx being one of the worst for residue.

yes, you can use other types of tubing and coolant. I'm about to order the same kit myself and i already purchased some Feser UV tubing. But Tygon really makes the best tubing, this is the one you want for this kit:

http://www.performance-pcs.com..._414&products_id=22667

Also, i want to warn you against using UV die and coolant as it may cause your setup to clog up over time. It is much better to pick up UV tubing like i did and be done with it. Feser makes pretty good UV tubing, i didnt get Tygon cause it only comes in clear variety.

And lastly, i highly recomend you get some anti-kink coils if u r not gonna use the Swiftech tubing. Swiftech and Koolance make some petty nice coils like these:

Great Stuff! Cheers WoodButcher! You are an Angel :)

So then I won't use any coolant as such, just distilled water would suffice. I would also get the Feser tube 3/8" ID 1/2" OD (I want to use two colours, 1 blue and 1 red, would look cool). 2 meters should really be enough I suppose. What biocide would be good and non-conductive? Sorry I will of course do my own research but would really appreciate your tips.

Cheers

Thanks Germz :) I have decided to go for Feser tubing because of the same reason. Although I would be using a combination of blue and red tubes, would look cool!

Have you decided to go for Swiftech H20-220 Compact Water Cooling Kit? How much are you getting it for? hope it works out fine for you too.

Cheers

How does PrimoChill Liquid Utopia Protective Fluid sound for a biocide and anti corrosion liquid? Its got some good reviews.

Cheers.

np, buddy. i'm personally doing an orange/black mod this time so i went for orange UV. I was planning to get the H20 220 Compact from newegg as they have the lowest price ($140) i've found so far but they just went out of stock. This is prolly a temporariry thing as that kit goes out of stock often, i asked them to notify me when it goes back in stock. If it doesnt by the time i'm gonna buy i'll look on ebay for a good price or get it from one of the other etailers.

In regards to Primochill, i'm not familar with that fluid but a friend of mine who is quite the water cooling expert doest like Primochill products at all, especially he told me to stay away from their tubing. I thought i'd mention this to you just in case.

I use an algaecide from the pet store. If you have a bit of pure silver you can put that in your reservoir, as your loop is made of all copper you need not worry about corrosion.

What coolant or biocide liquid are you planning to use?

Isn't there a risk of algae, other bio fungus if you just go with distilled water and no Biocide? didn't you face such problem?

i havent yet considered it. I'm gonna ask my friend about it and see what he sez. But what other people said about distilled water and biocide sounds reasonable to me.

Thanks WoodButcher. But yet again Petra's products are not available at any resellers in London/UK /Europe nor are they willing to ship it. Also, I was wondering if there were any biocides which were colourless rather than having some colour. I would be using Red and Blue coloured tubes with partial transparency.

Oh no :( Hydrix is green coloured (would look ugly through my semi transparent red and blue tubes) and they leave some residue. Also they don't have great reviews.

Actually I am sorry WoodButcher. I can get that Petra's PT nuke here. Although where you guys in the US pay "2.50 for that, We brits here pay $8.00 :( But I am really tempted to go for it considering its a Petra Product and has great reviews. But only two things:

1) It seems to have blue colour according to pictures. Will it retain the a stong colour density when mixed with water? That would make my semi transparent red tubes look aweful.

2) Will it affect the Swiftech warranty? it doesn't say anything like that on the warranty manual or website. But has anybody experienced problems when they did so before?

Cheers

Finally got the Petra'sTech PT_Nuke Concentrated Biocide. Hope that works well with my copper fusion block as well.
