Congrats. On Thursday I purchased and assimilated two Dell Optiplex GX1 PII-400's. They rock! One of them did a sweet WU in 10:46 and they do regular WUs in ~ 13-15 hours. I now have 5 computers in my dorm room here running SETI 🙂
 
5 comps in your dorm???? do your roomates things your crazy? cause i just gota second moniter and mine think im off the deepend. i mentioned something about gettina second comp and the wanted to commit me

I have 2 computers here in my bedroom, and another in the living room. And there's only 2 of us in the house! :Q

All running Seti of course (duron 850, athlon 1.0@1.43, athlon xp1800+@1686mhz) 😀

i cant sleep without my one and its LOUS AS SH!T. i have 3 120mm fans 1 80mm 1 delta screamer and 1 vantec tornado. and i cant sleep with it off. on the contrary my roomates can sleep with it on but i dont care


on a side note this new comp thats now has seti on it crunches Wu in like 4 hours when no one is usin it. while my XP 1700 takes about 4.5 hours which i think is strange

If thats on the Athlon 900 rig then something isn't right!:Q ,with that kind of WU time it sounds like SETI is aborting the WU part way due to either intereference recorded in the WU itself (only rarely happens) or the rig isn't quite stable & SETI is getting its WU's corrupted.
I remember my fathers old rig an Athlon 700 classic on a KX133 board with CL2 RAM did most WU's in about 8.5-9hrs,his current Tbird 1.4GHz with the same RAM does most WU's in about 5hrs
I would say though that the XP1700 is about right,maybe a tad slow ,my XP1600 does most WU's in about 4hrs 20mins
